The Executive Chairman of Samsung Mr. Jay Y. Lee and delegation from Korea and New Zealand visited Samoa earlier this week to launch its “Solve for Tomorrow” initiative as part of implementing its social corporate responsibility for the people of Samoa.
The “Solve for Tomorrow” initiative is designed to benefit students and teachers with their capacity building in science, technology, engineering and mathematical subjects.
“It is our hope that through this program Samoan youth can gain problem solving experience in their communities by developing their technical skills and knowledge.
Moreover to grow the leaders who will lead the sustainable development of Samoa” said the President and Chief Officer of Samsung Electronics for South East Asia and Oceania, Mr. Sang Ho Jo who spoke on behalf of Samsung.
Mr. Sang Ho Jo also acknowledged the support from the Government of Samoa, through the Ministry of Education as well as the United Nations Development Program in the launching of the “Solve for Tomorrow” program.
SSAB which is the exclusive agent of Samsung in Samoa for TVs, white ware, air conditions and home appliance was invited to meet with the Executive Chairman of Samsung and the Samsung delegation.
The CEO of SSAB, Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai along with her senior management were humbled to meet with the top executives of Korea’s biggest conglomerate.
“Having the Top Executive Chairman in Samoa is certainly a milestone because Samoa is such a small nation.
The visit is a platform to strengthen Samoa’s relationship with Samsung and allow greater access to cutting edge technology” said CEO Tofilau.
Executive Chairman Mr. Jay Y. Lee was excited to meet with CEO Tofilau and thanked her for her passion to grow the Samsung brand in Samoa.
This year marks ten years of SSAB‘s agency for Samsung in Samoa and the partnership continues to thrive because both companies share similar goals of Customer Satisfaction and giving back to the community.
