The Easter weekend was a time of rejuvenation and growth for SSAB, as CEO Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai led her CEO’s Champion Team, alongside the General Manager of SSAB Bargains, Tafaese Cecilia, and her dedicated team, in a powerful "Advance Meeting."
Held as a time to pause from the daily routine at work, the meeting provided an opportunity to relax, reconnect, and reflect on ways to improve the services and products delivered by key departments such as International Procurement, the Graphics Team, Online Sales, and the CEO’s Office—known affectionately as the Guardians of the Galaxy.
“This is a good way to relax and think of good ideas, because we are busy every day and we don’t have time to think,” shared CEO Tofilau. “So thank God for these opportunities.” She credited God for the many inspiring ideas that emerged from the meeting, reinforcing the value of time taken for reflected experience.
What was once referred to as a “Retreat” has now been rebranded to an “Advance” by the visionary CEO. Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 18:21 — “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” — Tofilau emphasized the importance of words spoken in shaping mindset and outcomes. The word “Retreat” implied stepping back, while “Advance” signals progress, purpose, and positive momentum. This aligns perfectly with SSAB’s 2025 theme: “Thrive in 2025 through Excellence and Growth.”
The Advance Meeting was more than just a strategic gathering—it was filled with delightful surprises, delicious meals, and the warmth of great company. SSAB was also honored by the presence of CEO and Manager of GIAS Pago, Maiava Jody, her husband Afioga Fata Sam, and their daughter, Princess Athena, adding a special touch to the gathering.
With renewed energy and a spirit of excellence, the SSAB teams now look forward to executing the ideas born out of this inspiring Easter Advance—thriving, growing, and continuing to serve Samoa with excellence.
